Acute Therapies

We offer a variety of Fresenius Medical Care therapeutic solutions, allowing for an efficient treatment of acute kidney injury. Besides the several options for Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), our portfolio also provides options for plasmapheresis.

The multiFiltrate features an ergonomical and intuitive operating concept providing the full range of renal replacement therapies. Its wide product range includes solutions for:

Ci-Ca CVVHD: Continuous veno-venous haemodialysis with citrate anticoagulation
Ci-Ca postCVVHDF: Continuous veno-venous haemodiafiltration with citrate anticoagulation
CVVHD: Continuous veno-venous haemodialysis
CVVHDF: Continuous veno-venous haemodiafiltration
CVVH: Continuous veno-venous haemofiltration
Pre-Post CVVH: Pre-post continuous veno-venous haemofiltration (High volume CVVH)
MPS: Membrane plasma separation / a form of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE)
SCUF: Slow continuous ultrafiltration
HP: Haemoperfusion
Paed CVVH: Paediatric continuous veno-venous haemofiltration
Paed CVVHD: Paediatric continuous veno-venous haemodialysis

Key features:

  • Simple handling, flexible and reliable
  • Heparin or citrate anticoagulation
  • Simple use with appropriate treatment kits
  • User-friendly operating concept with self-explanatory menu guides
  • High quality standards in production and service
CRRT and plasmapheresis filters

CRRT filters
Ultraflux® filters contain a Fresenius Polysulfone® membrane specifically developed for continuous renal replacement therapy. AVpaed, AV400S, AV600S, and AV1000S filters have different surface areas but the same membrane. The membrane of the Ultraflux® EMiC®2 is optimized to increase the removal of middle molecules in CVVHD or Ci-Ca® CVVHD mode.

Key features:

  • Steam sterilized
  • Long filter lifetimes
  • Excellent biocompatibility
  • Robust capillaries with minimal risk of blood leak
  • Filter size selectable to meet patient’s requirement

Plasmapheresis filters
PlasmaFlux is a steam-sterilized dry plasma filter with two-layer membrane structure and modelled membrane topology, used for MPS therapies. Dedicated pores allow free passage of protein components such as immunoglobulins, lipoproteins and also other big molecules with molecular weights even those exceeding two million Dalton.

Key features:

  • High filtration performance
  • Excellent biocompatibility
  • High sieving coefficients
  • Steam sterilized
CRRT fluids

MutliBic is a bicarbonate-based solution that can be used in patients with acute kidney injury. The multiBic® is delivered in a double chamber bag with diagonal peel seam for simple handling. The sophisticated gas barrier helps to keep the ready-to-use bicarbonate solution stable and enables the long in-use time of 48 hours.

Key features:

  • 100% bicarbonate-buffered hemodiafiltration solution
  • Increased solution stability
  • PVC, latex and DEHP-free, environmentally friendly

Ci-Ca® Dialysate
Ci-Ca® Dialysate is a bicarbonate-based solution that can be used in combination with citrate anticoagulation for CRRT. It is delivered in 5L double chamber bag for safe and convenient handling.

Key features:

  • 100% bicarbonate-buffered hemodialysis solution
  • Increased solution stability
  • PVC, latex and DEHP-free, environmentally friendly

Sodium Citrate 4%
The citrate solution impedes coagulation by forming chelate complexes with the ionized calcium of the extracorporeal blood.
